The Monkey Tail Cactus, scientifically known as Cleistocactus winteri, is a visually captivating cactus species originating from Bolivia. Its distinguishing feature is its long, trailing stems that resemble the tail of a monkey, hence its common name. These stems can grow up to several feet in length, adorned with clusters of golden spines along their ridges.

In addition to its distinctive appearance, the Monkey Tail Cactus produces vibrant red or orange flowers during the spring and summer months. These bell-shaped flowers add a striking contrast to the cactus’s green stems and are attractive to pollinators such as hummingbirds.

Cultivating the Monkey Tail Cactus requires well-draining soil, ample sunlight, and infrequent watering to prevent root rot. It is best suited for outdoor cultivation in regions with warm, dry climates, although it can also thrive indoors if provided with sufficient light.

Due to its unique trailing habit and colorful blooms, the Monkey Tail Cactus is a popular choice for hanging baskets, rock gardens, and container plantings. It adds a touch of whimsy and natural beauty to any succulent collection or garden landscape.

Still juvenile as the winteri stands erect and has no ‘tail’ or hanging growth pattern yet. Arrived in good condition, a bit slower in transit than my previous orders but did not negatively impact plant. Have enjoyed all of my purchases to date from this site however prices seem to be increasing to a bit to high for my preferences on their items but if you love cacti, definitely a trust worthy site
