Lophophora fricii is a species of cactus known for its small, globular shape and distinctive ribbed appearance. Native to Mexico, particularly in the states of Coahuila and Nuevo León, it thrives in arid desert regions. This cactus is very similar to other species in the Lophophora genus, such as Lophophora williamsii (peyote). However, Lophophora fricii is less commonly used in traditional rituals and ceremonies compared to its more well-known counterpart. It typically grows in rocky or sandy soils and has a slow growth rate. The plant forms clusters over time, with multiple stems emerging from a central point. Lophophora fricii is often cultivated by enthusiasts for its ornamental value and unique appearance. However, due to habitat loss and over-collection, it is considered vulnerable in its native range. Efforts are underway to conserve and protect populations of Lophophora fricii in its natural habitat.
